Most doctors will tell you not to.
Even if you are obese, please don't do anything until you talk to a doctor, and not one of these people on Yahoo Answers who says "My doctor told me!"

DON'T!
Your body needs all the nutrition it can get to support a growing baby. It is said that what the baby needs it will take first as far as nutrients in the blood stream, but don't count on it. Do you want a baby with possible birth defects? I know a lady who tried to diet while pregnant. Her baby was born with a swallowing disorder and she had to insert a tube into the baby's stomach through her nose to feed the baby. This may or may not have had anything to do with the dieting, but she will forever feel guilty.
Do you want to risk a similar fate?
Pregnancy that is to be carried to term is serious business. AFTER you have the baby you can focus on regaining your figure. To try to do so now is not only selfish, but also irresponsible.
Follow a balanced diet, avoid unhealthy snacks, and do moderate exercise like walking or prenatal exercise classes approved by your doctor.

You shouldn't diet when you are pregnant. The baby needs all the nutrients you can give it. If you want to control how much you gain then just watch the types of food you eat. Chips, pop, ice cream and the like are a sometimes treat. Eat your fruit and veggies and you should be able to control any heavy weight gain. Just be careful to not over or under do it. Take care of yourself and your baby by eating right. Good luck!

Why on earth do you want to loose weight while you are pregnant? Eat the right foods for yourself and the baby you are carrying. If you don't eat enough of the right foods, the baby will drain your system of what it needs to grow. When your nails start breaking and your hair gets dull and starts falling out, you will know that your baby isn't getting enough protein, etc. Ask your doctor for appropriate exercises you can do while you are expecting so you can keep in shape for yourself and your baby.

NOT TO. Well known fact. Don't diet when pregnant. Just don't over eat. Read a pregnancy book and only eat what you are supposed to eat while pregnant. Move around. Avoid unhealthy things. When the baby is born then start a doctor supervised diet and exercize. Good luck. I wish you the best.

You aren't suppose to loose weight while you are pregnant.....you are suppose to gain it. Not a lot, but some. The baby needs the nourishment. There's plenty of time to loose weight after the delivery.

You can't diet when you're pregnant. Not only are you depriving yourself-you deprive the baby.
If you're overweight, ask your doctor about a nutritional guide to follow. I'm sure s/he wouldn't want you gaining too much weight anyway.
If you're not overweight, you need to relax and ease up on yourself. Eat 300 extra calories/day, and make sure they're from good, healthy foods. Don't think by keeping your weight low you're doing yourself or your baby any favors.
Good luck.

Please do not try to loose weight while you are pregnant. loose the weight after you give birth. Just eat right while enjoying motherhood. Stop worrying about getting back in shape while your pregnant. You could harm your baby if you try.
