Do you have any idea of the style, color, etc?
I searched extensively for my dress. I actually found one that I loved on eBay, but ended up getting a different one half off at David's Bridal. There are tons of wedding outlets/ specialty stores, etc. You just need to take a day and go to it. It's a lot of work trying on all those gowns, though. Make sure you take someone with you who can provide an honest opinion and have everything you're going to wear on your wedding day, so you can get an genuine look at how the dress is going to be.
You may even want to take a camera and take pics of yourself in the ones you like so you can compare later. One thing to watch for, though, the sales people are VERY pushy, so don't let them talk you into anything you don't LOVE. I tried on dresses all day and knew which was "the one", even after several sales people at different stores had tried to talk me into other dresses that I was not in love with.
Best of luck.

Well, I have no idea where you live or how formal the wedding is going to be - but I would check at JC Penny for semi-formal. You might have to do a catalog order with them, but I'm sure you could find something there if you have one near you. You could always check your local phone directory for listings in your area, or go online to some speciality dress shops and see what you can find.

Check out Kohl's and Sears, they always have good items, also Macy's. I aways seem to find dresses there, especially when I'm not really looking for anything.
