I use Norton's Anti-Virus and also the Spyware Doctor. Both scans come up clean but my computer locks up often and seems to be running all the time. By running i mean like its processing or something. Takes forever to download and it's driving me insane.
Any ideas?

Maybe your security programs are not up to date and you need to update them or do what I do:

I recommend McAfee Security Suite...everything on it :)
This is what I do to protect my computer:
> Scan your computer for spyware/adware using a FREE software from Microsoft called Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

> You can download a FREE antivirus software:

> You can buy Webroot Spy Sweeper here, it's very nice, safe and very up-to-date:

> MSN Toolbar, includes Pop-up blocker, Phishing filter - FREE:

> Use Windows Update to make sure you have the latest security updates: http://www.windowsupdate.com

> You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer, it's the new version, fast, clean and secure:

Good luck and I hope these solutions solve your problem, if you need more extra help, contact me :)

I'm guessing that it's not a virus or spyware. It's most likely a conflict or a damaged file somewhere unknown.

You could scandisk/defrag, which may help speed things up a bit.

It could also be an overheating issue. Make sure you can hear your fans running.

If all else fails, try to restore your computer to an earlier restore point, when you last remember your computer working well.

Well it must be low memory I know When I was fixing somones computer it used to load forever slowest computer I have seen But when I investigated it,it was using a whole lot of virtual memory also called the systems pagefile he got some new memory for his computer and there there was a big diffrence.Try to remove unessecary programs running in the backround you can press start and than run and type there msconfig there you will see services and programs starting up there you can disable them there.Norton Antivirus is good but I switched casue its a big system hog ,hogs lots of memory I prefer something else. well good luck hope you computer gets working well.

How much ram is in the computer? you may have to add more. Try to defragment your hard drive it wont stop it from locking up but it will speed it up and cut down on the "processing" all the time

CTRL-ALT-DELETE, when the task manager comes up, see what programs are taking up the most memory and using up CPU cycles.
