I've been using limewire for almost 2 years and I've never heard of anyone getting caught from it. I think a lot of people got caught from WINmx or something but they took that site offline. I think it's pretty much safe :)

I've been using limewire for a while, it's a lot safer than Kazzaa and other free sites. You just have to know how to defend yourself. When you type in the name and artist of the song you want it's best to leave some information out, that way you can tell which files are real because they will contain the missing information. There are hidden viruses and ads that use the text from your searches to create bogus filenames that trick you into downloading them.

For example:

say i want to download "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar
I'd search 'Heartbreaker' and 'Benatar'

If the result that comes up says "heartbreaker-pat benatar" then it's probably real, but if it says "heartbreaker-benatar" it's fake and you should avoid it.

Limewire has a lot of viruses and makes your computer run slower...it's not worth the free songs. I agree with the girl above, use iTunes, only 99 cents per song so you don't have to buy the whole CD.

Hi! Be very careful using Limewire - when you do download something run an anti virus scan on it before you open it.

Limewire is legal, I even paid for mine. As far as viruses go, I heard it isn't very safe. I also heard the updated version is alot safer, but I still use the old one.
