Our country needs to realize we have problems and swallow our pride and look to other countries for examples on how to make things work better. Too often I think people in our country take the attitude that, Ya this doesn’t work very well but we will gradually fix it. Well insted of it taking 10,20 years or more to fix, why not look at other countrys for examples of how to make things better. EXAMPLE, our crime rate in this country is horrable compaired to other countrys such as England, France, Japan Etc., So why not reasearch what these other countrys do differently from us, and see what we could possibly implement here to make things better. What do you think.

A lot of the social problems are caused by underlying societal and cultural factors and have little to do with governmental policies. Enforcing certain laws which are enforced in Japan or countries in Europe might ultimately have no effect on Americans because the culture is so different and what people hold as their values differs so greatly.

I think a lot of the success of European and Asian countries comes from their homogeny and a common culture and belief system. There are so many contrasting views here in America and therefore are bound to be more conflicts.... especially when it comes on deciding which laws should be enforced on everyone.

I think America has a lot to be proud of in terms of maintaining such a mixed society and valuing individual freedoms and rights to believe in what you want to believe in. The diversity maybe causes more conflict, but out of it also arises great inventions and experiences. There are good and bad on both sides of the coin.

Instead of looking at what's wrong look at what is right. This country has been successful for over 225 years, it accepted poor immigrants from all over and has given them opportunities unachievable in their old countries, and has led the world and fought against various countries to preserve democracy/human rights worldwide. Those countries you listed all owe a tremendous amount to the USA. They are what they are because of us and the blood we gave to protect them.

If you want to live in a second-rate 'follower' of a country, haul asss. That kind of thinking is what can bring our great nation down.

I think the Yakuza of Japan, the Russian Mafia, the Chinese Triads, (and, I could continue to name countries, with their attendant vile aspects), King George of England, in 1776, and every tyrant in history, would all debate you in the streets, with fists, knives, sticks, or illegal guns.

You cannot legislate morality. You can only arm yourself, as Christ said throughout the Gospels. We look there, to find Jesus advising the disciples to buy a sword in Luke 22:36: "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Did Jesus in this verse advocate the use of a sword for self-defense purposes? http://home.earthlink.net/~ronrhodes/qselfdefense.html

Prior to His crucifixion, Jesus revealed to His disciples the future hostility they would face and encouraged them to sell their outer garments in order to buy a sword (Luke 22:36-38; cf. 2 Corinthians 11:26-27).

Self-defense may actually result in one of the greatest examples of human love. Christ Himself said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:14). When protecting one's family or neighbor, a Christian is unselfishly risking his or her life for the sake of others.

Jesus said, "When a strong man fully armed, guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed; but when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armour on which he had relied, and distributes his plunder." (Luke 11:21-22) http://www.lockstockandbarrel.org/Press%20Releases/quotes_for_the_christian_gun_own.htm

I would enjoy educating you more, but, must bear my responsibilities to others, now, and trust you will research more, on your own. Islam says "Submit, or die"? NEVER!
