Ksenia doesn't come from Oksana, it's the other way round. It's indeed Greek and means "hospitality". Your nickname in Russian would be Ksyusha or, less commonly, Ksenya. I don't know how usable either is in English. I've known one Ksenia who used the nickname Kasia, a similar-sounding though unrelated Polish diminutive of Catharine. I like that name very much, but as it happens, in my life the name Ksenia is somehow synonymous with complicated relations, whether it be friendship or more. I've learned, irrationally I know, to fear Ksenias a little. :)

It is beautiful! It is unique and not every girl has this name. I get tired of all the Kates and Emilys out there. I like Oksana.

Pretty. A very traditional Russian name. Reminds me of that figure skater, Oksana Bayul.

My best friend in elementary school was named Oksana. I always liked that name but I wouldn't be surprised if she gets some kind of flack about it throughout her life merely because it's an unusual name in the States (assuming that's where you live, of course...) But doesn't every kid get flack for their name in the schoolyard?

One of our paralegals at work is named Oksana (although she pronounces her name ok-SAH-nuh). She's originally from Russia, and I have to say...she's one of the kindest, sweetest, most beautiful women I've ever met. (Seriously...when we go out to lunch, mens' jaws drop. I'd like to think they're looking at me but alas, they're looking at her willowy 5'10", blue eyed, blonde haired self...(sigh)) LOL Seriously, I think Oksana is a beautiful name!

OhLaLa, that IS a BEAUTIFUL name. I wish the best wishes for you and your baby..... Uh .....If you decide you really want one... Or, from your Yahoo! ID, You could name her LaLa. I have a cousin named LaVida, but we called her LaLa. I always wanted that name. Or Mia. But I like Oksana. It's... A very UNIQUE name, like no other name out there. And I like that. It sets you apart from any other person.

It's not my style. However, it would be pretty if you are in an urban environment where a lot of people don't have traditional names. The poor girl would never stop getting picked on in rural America where I live.

It's different. The more I look at it and kind of get used to it, the more I like. Besides if you like it who cares what others think.
