Okay I have always been a bit of a superstitious person (not bad just mildly)
Here is my question last weekend I had what i can only make out to be ether a baby starling bird or a baby sparrow (sparrow is what i really lean twards but am still not 100% sure)
I have heard that sparrows simular to crows are carrier's of the soul,
also a warning of illness if one flyes in your home and back out
and many others manly haveing to deal with ether killing one being a bad omen
to or flying though your home
*******I was camping last weekend and I was fixing myself a Plate of dinner, between 6-7pm on saturday night out side (camping) and a baby sparrow (or starling) landed right on my chest and stared me in the eyes i was looking at it eye to eye for 1-2 whole minutes and then it just flue away*******
There is more...

Okay here it is after work today I was driving home the only place where i opened my door or window was at a gas station inbetween. And when i was done at the gas station i was driving I swear on my life i never saw anything fly in or anything but as god id my witness right on the dash board of my truck behind my steeringwheel was an adult praying mantis i think also looking at me then it turned its head and seemed to look right at the picture of me and my hubby that is over my RPM meter the really freaky part is i live in Utah and praying mantis's are very rare here.
what do you think?

sheyrl i dont know if i want to respond to your answer as it seems to me that your very answer contradicts yourself big time
a superstition is nothing more in a sence then another type of faith or belief
just as is god or religous belief
just someone elses view on it
and so in the begining you say it is not true yet I should take as a blessing is that not contradicting your own previous statment.

If you kill a bird.. any bird , it's a bad omen....Whether it be your car, a window.. anything that kills it.... That bird sounds like a cool spirit of yours just saying, "Hey".

If it was small and flying, I'd say sparrow. Among many the sparrow is also a bringer of joy, as it spends its days celebrating life among its noisy fellows, chirping and chatting as it finds its dinner amid the dust and grasses. They are also bold little birds at times, and it may simply have wished a place to rest.
I assume the mantis moved on? All to the good, for they are predatory and will eat (or be eaten by) their mates more often than not.

Well, first of all, superstitions are not true! It is neither mentally, emotionally, nor spiritually healthy for a person to rely on them. It can cause u to be distressed & full of anguish (as u may already have experienced). I think it was just a baby bird that got confused & I think it's neat that u had that brief encounter!
Count it as a blessing to have seen one of God's creatures up close & personal like that & don't worry about any silly superstitions!

don't be stupid. Birds can fly where they like and it doesn't mean you're going to die just because they land on you. You should be priviledged that this particular sparrow was naive enough to land on a potential predator. But thats not to say its good luck either. It doesn't mean anything. It's just weird. Maybe you smelt of worms or something tasty.
Anyway its spelt 'flew' not 'flue', and 'flies' not 'flyes'

Hm, well that's quite odd. I doubt it's an omen of anything, but just to be safe, avoid vases.
If anything I think it's rather cool that a wild bird would come so close to you, take it as a good sign.

i think different people have differnt acceptable superstitions like i beleive in signs and armageddon, but i dont believe in tossing salt over your shoulder gi ves you good luck. So go a head and belive that this is a sign for something and let it in.
