Anyone remember "Crystal Pepsi" - I loved that stuff! It was Pepsi without the caramel coloring.

Pepsi, Coke and other cola drinks are caramel-based. That's why they are brown. However, there are some coloring agents also added.

Both Pepsi and Coca Cola use artificial coloring. Market research has shown that people who drink soft drinks prefer them caramel colored.

Definately has nothing to do with the flavor. Artificially added. BTW, the colas only have trace amounts of cola. Basically sugar water.

I dunno but they made this thing called Crystal Pepsi a long time ago and it tasted the same but it was clear like water. But nobody went for it. Everyone said they liked the dark stuff better.
