maintenance is key.
i forget where i read it, but a study showed-
keeping a car for at least 10 years would save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of 30 years. -vs-
trading a car off every 5 years.
the study even factored in major repairs, such as engines and transmissions.
think about it- i have an 8 year old car that i have maintained well.
it needs a transmission worth 1500.00 usd.
a good used car will run 10,000usd(at least).
then you have to shop, re-insure,payments, etc..lots of little crap.
that trans is real appealing.
you can make it last, as long as you can stand to sit in it.

over 200,000. GM quality has really stepped up, and you could always put that many on their trucks. the 5.3 is really reliable and well built. just keep up w/ maintenance...and this means more than just changing oil on time. change trans. fluid, rear end fluid, keep salt off of it in the winter, and it will last a long while.

Recharging an air con device is unlike topping off your radiator. you should positioned precisely best volume of refrigerant and oil in, plus at the same time as ever you replace the compressor you're meant to substitute the filter out/dryer if it has one. i could recommend taking it into an licensed keep in the previous you trash your new compressor, that is large undemanding to do.
