Gay usually means men who like men
Lesbian usually means women who like women
Bisexual means either a man or a woman who likes both men and women.
Transgendered means either a man who has become a woman (surgically or not), or a woman who has become a man.

Gay used to refer to anyone who liked people of the same sex. Due to a long process that I've written about in other answers and don't want to get into, lesbians were being under-represented, so now it's usually "gay men and lesbians" (hence the G and L). Needless to say, lesbians are women who like other women. Bisexual USUALLY means someone who likes both genders, but many bisexuals might also date people who don't necessarily fall into one of the two polar opposite gender identities.

Transgender is probably the one you really don't know about. It's an umbrella term for MANY different types of people; anyone who doesn't fit traditional gender roles. It often refers specifically to transexauls (people who are one gender "in the body of" the other). People who identify as androgynous, or neither gender, or somewhere in the middle, or genderqueer (sometimes they ID as female, sometimes male). Sometimes even drag queens and kings are included.

A gay man is a man who loves other men. A lesbian is a women who loves other women. Someone who is bisexual is attracted to both men and women, and someone who is transgendered does not feel like they are psychologically the same gender that they are physically.

A good place to find meanings to words you might not know is the "Urban Dictionary" or "Wikipedia: the free encyclopedia" online. I have linked them in the source area.

lesbian = women that like other women

gay = men who like other men

bisexual = girl or guy that likes other girls and guys (but only has a romantic relationship with one at a time)

likes = wants a relationship with feelings as well as sexual attraction

bi-curious = someone who is curious about a sexual relationship with someone of the same sex

straight = girl or guy that likes someone of opp sex

Allie got it for you. Tammy was almost there... People who actually get their their gender changed are Transsexuals. Transgenders are people who feel that they are the opposite gender of the body they are in. And just for future reference... Transvestites are people who dress like the opposite gender, but don't necessarily feel that they are that gender. Make sense?

lesian - female loves female
