I work with several people that are very well off and make comments like........."They only make $200,000 a year" and "the American dream now is to own a million dollar home". They think it is weird that I can't go out all the time because I'm broke.

Just so you know I have 2 relatives that are probably considered rich by todays standards. They don't act like this or make comments like this. If they do they are isolated incidents.

Not all rich people are like that. You just have the misfortune of working with some real bitches. And at $200,000 a year, they are not considered rich. They are upper middle class and pissed off because they aren't rich enough to keep up with the Jones's so to speak. Anyone who has to brag about their belongings or money is a an unhappy person who is very insecure with themselves.
Truly wealthy people do not have to brag about what they have, nor do they have to try to keep up with the neighbors. By today's standards I'm considered wealthy but I do understand that not everyone is.
I do not believe that rich people work any harder than poor people do. In fact, I believe just the opposite. I would love to see some rich person out there scrubbing toilets, working in construction, or any other so called "blue collar" job. Most wouldn't last an hour at any of those jobs.
I'm sorry that you have such a bad impression of those wealthier than you. Don't take it personally, and take comfort in knowing that you are probably much happier than them in you personal life.

I think that rich people can be irritating, but at the same time the fact that they feel the need to point it out to people tells you they have deep seeded psychological problems, that just scratches the surface.
I've observed that when people who have money, and the money is where they get their self worth, if they lost said money, their life will have literally ended. Most of them have waking nightmares about losing everything, and this makes some of them do some immoral things to insure that that never happens... they have bills to pay that you don't have to =D and @sses to kiss, just thank God you are not them...lol

No...you've just come across some rich people that are pricks.
My parents are extremely wealthy and yet my mom won't buy something that is a dollar if it's not on sale LOL
Another thing you never...ever hear my parents say is how much money they have, how much this and that cost, etc.
They are extremely giving.
Another thing....they could afford the fanciest cars but believe me neither of them have went for that either...they are nice...but nothing crazy.
Also, They have always made sure to raise me right and I have had to work for everything that I have.
Their best friends are much, much richer and they actually let homeless people sleep on their land and they feed and clothe them...You would never know they are millionaires when you see and talk to them.

Don't feel bad, we're in the same boat. Those rich folks think money can buy happiness. You can be happier without those things just the way you are. Remember good health worths more than all the money in the world.

I have worked with some very well off pwople and the trick is to not let them get to you. Sure you cant go out with them every time they ask, but there is ways around this too. Go ahead and go out with them when asked, order water or something cheap and ten to 1 they will say go ahead and get something, I'll pay. Dont feel bad when they do offer, trust me they have enough money.

The situations that you are experiencing would make me not like rich people too.....I feel bad for the fact that you have to deal with silly people like that but maybe all rich people aren't that way.......lets keep hope alive

they only kind of rich people that irritate me are the ones you described....other than that no not really~ Its not like they are better then anyone else...take away their money and cars and they would be just like you or me...they need to wake up and realize this

I met a few rich kids. Some nice, some not. The mean guys, you gotta jump when no one's looking and give them a box of LSD to lower their iq so they can't explain what happened to them.

The irritate me when they are stuck-up. I know a lot of nice well-to-do people and a lot of hateful poor people. It just depends on the person.
