Why there are so many Dale Jr. fans? Is it because his dad had so many fans? I think this is one of the reasons I dislike the guy. He isn't that talented of a driver and yet he's got the most fans it seems. Somebody please explain!!

To BG: I am a NASCAR fan and I do watch every race. I'm not being a bad sport, I just don't understand why everybody thinks he's so great. HE'S NOT!! Read other people's opinions.

I agree 100%! Jr. is a nice guy and races clean, but he is not that good, although he is improving every year! I think 60% of his fans are follow throughs from Sr., 30% are teenage girls who just think he is hot and 10% are true fans who are fans because he is a clean racer! I don't care for Jr. because of the fact that he didn't work to earn all those fans respect, most went for the name and what really urks me are the girls who are fans just because he is cute!
Don't get me wrong I don't hate Jr., my fiance is a big Jr. fan, I just don't think he is all he is cracked up to be!

Oh I think he has talent. Lots of it. I just don't think he has the DRIVE. He lacks the HUNGER for wins and championships that his dad had.
I like him OK but his fans irritate me. He seems like a nice guy and he's very plain spoken. That's why a lot of people like him. That, and the fact that his dad died (and was made into a saint even though he was ten times the dirty driver that Stewart could ever hope to be). He's clearly the most popular regardless of his record. His FANATICS are the ones that bother me. They are in many cases the bad stereotype of a Nascar fan. I sat two seats from one at Indy and I wanted to smack him down a few times.

He isn't that talented of a driver? I'm guessing you don't watch NASCAR right? Whether you like him or not you can't deny that he's a good driver.
As far as his fans....i'm guessing again you don't watch it right??? Because if you did you'd know he had an extreme number of fans before his dad died. You do realize he won the Busch Championship right? He had A LOT of fans then, he had A LOT of fans when he came into Cup, and he still has a lot of fans.......it's not because of his dad. I wasn't much of a Dale E. Sr fan.....i didn't hate him but he wasn't my fav......but i have ALWAYS liked Dale Jr, even since Busch. I like his driving, i like his style and his attitude. Personally I think it's jealousy and poor sportsmanship, and immaturity n ignorance......to claim his fame only comes from his dad dying.......just because you don't like him....thats ridiculous. Like I tell others, if you don't like him, that is fine, don't like him.....but don't be immature and a bad sport just because other people do.

Yes when Sr died, most of his fans started rooting for Jr. I think the true Earnhart fans did this out of respect for Sr., and also to keep the Earnhart legend alive. Jr. is getting better each time he races, he is still young and has a lot of work to do, before he can every get as good as his father.

Hm, maybe because he's a good driver & a nice guy? Just because you don't like him doesn't make him a bad driver, he's a good driver. I like him & it's not because of his dad! I wasn't a Dale Sr. fan. Sr. raced too dirty sometimes, I don't like drivers that race dirty. Junior races clean & I don't see why so many people dislike him. Sure some fans he got from his father, but I'm not one of them. I like Jr. for Jr., not his dad or because of his name! Is that clear enough for ya?!?

he has fans. he had fans that weren't his dad's.. he had fans in the busch series. now sure, he got some of those b/c he was an earnhardt..but he's got this good ole backwoods boy attitude that a lot of people like. he's got a likability factor. then there are the girls that track him b/c he's "hot" BARF!! but you have that with any driver.. if you can not like him that means that someone can like him.. no biggie.

It is mostly because his name is DALE EARNHARDT, although he is blue collar enough to keep his dad's fans even if he doesn't drive like his dad.
It think it's also that many people dislike today's most aggressive drive, Tony Stewart; overwise DAle Sr fans would move to Stewart.

just scanning all the other answers i didn't see one big reason so many people like him....his looks!
when fox had the whole sexy driver contest deal a few years ago, he won hands down.
a good deal of ladies seem to dig him for his looks alone.
personally, i think there are better looking drivers, but whatever melts your butter.

he's one of the 2 or 3 best drivers in NASCAR. put him in a hendrick, roush, or gibbs car and he would have multiple championships. it's amazing that he's won 17 races in his young career and he competes for the championship every year(except last year) with the inferior equipment at DEI.
