Some of the team profiles (such as the one on the FIFA web site) mentioned that it could have been a difficulty for the players. I agree that they could have been extra-motivated by the scandal, so that they and their fans could divert from it when they won the World Cup, but also because they wanted to play for the sake of representing their country well, and for Gianluca Pessotto (whom was a former squad player, but suffered from a potential suicide attempt).

No! They were motivated because they wanted to win just like every other team in the tournment!

In the end Italy won it because they were the best team! People can cry about Italy's win all they want, but it won't change a thing!

where's Andy_gurl!?! Maybe she could talk some sense into you about the situation and this supposed cheating... as for motivation - the scandal was a definite motivation because they wanted to make their country proud, to give them something to celebrate. They also had motivation from they're fallen former team mate.

Yes, the scandal motivated them as it motivated the 1982 team

yes i think so...many players of the Italian squad were playing at teams like juventus (zambrotta, camoranesi, canavaro), fiorentina (Luca Toni) and other teams....well, you see...the Italian way of thinking is not a rigid one...and every word can be changed anytime...they say something, but they always change it after a time...and i think the Italian players had known that if the win the cup, or at least, they would reach the semi-final the punishment will be reduced

First of all the world cup is over, secondly one thing has nothing to do with the other. The scandal in Italy has absolutely nothing to do with the World Cup.

They were more motivated because of the scandals with game fixing, so to shut everyone up, they shoved it in there faces that they won the world cup fair and square, and they deserved it.
FORZA AZZURRI.

P.S: Lady_Starlight SHUTUP BECAUSE WE WON WE DIDN'T PAY ANYONE.
