A lot of the Krispy Kreme stores have closed. They really suffered greatly from the major explosion of Atkins a while back. Places like Dunkin Donuts offer more than just donuts- they have a slightly easier time making it through the low carb times. They also offer cold and frozen drinks which make major bucks in the summer whereas KK pretty much offered donuts and hot coffee.

Probably because of bad location or bad management. I watched alot of HOT places open and close so fast. I am not shock either. Usually you never hear of a Kripsy Kreme place close. But maybe the prices were little outrageous.
For a good example: Dunkin Donuts was a HOT SPOT for a long time. And now the place is losing business. Summer is tough, but the prices of their items are outrageous.
I still go there but I don't buy as much. I didn't get my raise yet. And the cost of living didn't go up either.

They closed out by use in Colonie NY too. Business dropped.
They went from lines of cars tieing up the streets on grand opening day to standing around doing nothing half the day two years later.
Meanwhile Dunkin Donuts five blocks away is doing great, although they are part of a gas station and Mini Mart!

Krispy Kreme oversaturated the market too quickly. Which means that they opened too many stores in too many places way too fast. A lot of them are closing across the country because although the company was extremely popular, they weren't popular enough to sustain the costs incurred by the new stores. Its the same reason you don't see any new mcdonald's.

I think it is because they got a new midget factory.
Oxnard's now got its Krispy Kreme midget factory. You can watch the doughnuts from raising box through glazing through boxing up and you can have Homer Price flashbacks.05-01-2006, 07:06 PM
