I live in Seattle, and I know it sounds so overrated, but it IS in fact worth it to go to the Space Needle. I mean, come on, it's THE thing to do in Seattle. If you can afford it, once in a lifetime, you should eat at the restaurant at the top of the space needle. It may be one of the most expensive meals of your life, but very good, and the rotating (extremely slowly) room with a view to die for makes it worth it (once.)
Some more fun things to do:
1. Pike Place Market
2. If you can't afford the restaurant at the Space Needle, do a restaurant in Pike Place Market - such as
a. The Can Can - the show is free!
b. The Pink Door
c. Matt's in the Market
d. Chez Shea
3. If you come in the summer, and have the day to spend:
a. take the water taxi from downtown pier across Elliott Bay to Alki/West Seattle. Have lunch at the pier there (fish and chips) then walk or take the free shuttle bus to Alki Beach. If you've been to Hawaii or California or East Hampton, NY, you've seen better beaches, but this is the best of Seattle as far as beaches.
Seattle is a friendly, wonderful, beautiful city. My favorite! Have fun. :-)

I'd pick up a City Pass, which buys you admission to the Space Needle, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, Argosy Cruise, Pacific Science Center and the Museum of Flight. All worthwhile attractions at a fraction of the price.
Other must-sees (on a budget) would be Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, a walk and the view from Alki Beach, and the view from Kerry Park (view on most Seattle postcards and recently voted one of the most romantic places to kiss in America!).

One thing my husband and I LOVED while in Seattle was EMP (Experience Music Project). Even if you aren't hard core into music, it's still really cool! Word of advise though, eat before you go. The food they sell is WAY to expensive and not worth it. Oh, it's right next to the Space Needle (which you should also see).
One more thing. Pikes Market on the water front is also a must do. Find some history on it and it's even better.
Have a great time!

Go to a Seahawks game! For the first time in there 2o yrs or so of existance, they're GOOD! Theres also an underground tour of "old Seattle," Jimi Hendrix' grave (just trying to think of things that haven't already been listed...), Pike Brewery. I think Pyramid Brewery stinks, and so deos every one else I know whose been there, it just happens to be in a good location. Check out chinatown (basically across the street from the stadiums), if you have/are a kid(s), check out game works, it a huge arcade with a full restaurant and bar, and it's also right in the middle of shopping, across the street from a huge niketown, the worlds first "addidasworld" a giant old navy, etc, etc,... An one more cool one if your into outdoors stuff is check out the REI store. There flagship store is in Seattle, and they have trails you can test bikes on, a 35 ft manmade rock climbing wall, even a waterfall, ALL right in the middle of downtown seattle!

I would say the Experience Music Project and Pike's Place Market. I took a tour of Safeco Field too, and loved it, but you prob need to be a baseball fan to enjoy it. My sister took me to an unbelievable seafood place, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Really enjoyed going to a few microbreweries, too. You can order a sampler and try several different homemade beers for a very reasonable price. Have fun!
