If he has the qualities you want in a male, and he has shown some interest, been friendly, that sort of thing...ask him if he'd like to go out some time or if he had ever considered dating you. That way, if he says no, you're just friends, or whatever, you can save face. Just laugh and say that's what you thought. If he says why then say you just heard something like that or saw it in a movie. But if it is definitely going in that direction and he is just shy, you should ask. There's nothing wrong with asking the guy out. Just remember if you ask him out you pay.

you can always play it safe and ask him to go out with you and a group of friends like " a group of us are goin to ...... would you like to join us?" hopefully things will b carried out from there
