i read all the other answers and they are good ones to start with. but the real problem is.....what are you REALLY afraid of? you are using food to mask another problem. get to the root of that problem and the food addiction should begin to slack off. and yes remove all fattening foods from your house, switch to a salt-free lifestyle not a diet; use herbs instead of salt. use lemon or lime juices for flavors, use olive oil for all oil requirements cooking or baking. eat before going grocery shopping. and start exercising. even if its only for a walk around the neighborhood or at your local gym. its a start. take your favorite music with you for motivation and to keep your eyes off the other exercising people. the biggest motivation killer i know is going to the gym to workout only to see a lot of muscle bound guys and super skinny girls working out. the music will help you focus on you and not on those around you. also check with ur doc 1st b4 starting.

good luck.

Definately drink alot of water, it satisfies the stomach.

In times where you feel like eating, try something else like chewing gum.

Instead of making alot of food, when you are hungry, make a small portion. Also keep in mind it takes 10 minutes for the body to tell the brain that you are full. So if you have food and are still hungry, wait 10 minutes or so and see if you still feel like more.

Consume more water in the day time and only allow your self to munch on fruits and vegetables. Clean out your cabinets and replace with low fat and health foods. This will allow you to make healthier foods and eat on health foods. I'm an emotional eater and my life is always stressful; so I've dealt with this problem alot. I've done this in my kitchen and since I've had this change I've lost 30 pounds. And I feel better about what I fed my daughter.

1. Drink a lot of water.
2. Eat 6 small portions instead of 3 big ones.
3. Take your time eating the meal. (At least 20 minutes) Chew thoroghly. It takes 20 minutes for your brain to notice that you're full, and if you chew well it's easier to digest.
4. Take fiber capsules.

When you feel hungry try drinking a bottle of water. Eat fruits and veggies. Find other things to do besides staying home, maybe walk around the block, try anything to get your mind off food. You can also try exercising. Try diet pills.

you can use a food diary to track what you are eating throughout the day...supposedly it helps you view your habits and makes it easier to change them...also try finding foods that are a healthier version of something you like...for instance...if you really like sweets, instead of eating cookies, eat some trail mix or dried fruit...if you like bagels, try english muffins instead (less calories and carbs!) also a little exercising helps too because muscle burns fat faster!

I was overweight when I was around 13/14. I think the main thing to do is get involved in activities. Sports and stuff are good of course, but just anything that will get you out of the house. Then you won't be so focused on food.

You could get a hobby, something to take your mind off food. Drink lots of water too, it acts as a natural appetite suppressant. Go out to the mall or join a club, anything that'll keep you busy.
