Screw Microsoft get an apple it is better but you need to learn all the fun features i had an apple for 2 years and i still find new short cuts and new things to do with it, a G4 with garage Band can Tune your Guitar that alone should show you how good it is

Turn off your PC, unplug your mouse, boot your PC then shut it down as normal now plug your mouse in and boot your PC after XP has reconnected your mouse it should work.

Is your mouse a USB mouse? This happened to me when my mouse fried my USB ports. Try something in the USB thingys and see if they work.
I had to replace my Usb thingys.
