Never been to the hotel but the Borders are our favorite part of Scotland.Hawick is famous for its woolen mills.Pringle is located there.Kelso is lovely it is close to Melrose and the famous Abbey.Abbotsford, the home of Walter Scott is near. The oldest inhabited house Scotland,Traquair is in Innerleithen. The headwaters of the Tweed is nearby.Peebles is a beautiful Border town and our personal favorite. It was picked as the town with the most local shops in Scotland. No chain stores and no McDonalds.
Two 'chippies' in town.
We love the Borders!!!!!

Drumlanrig's Tower in Hawick (you pronounce it Hoy-k) is okay. Kelso is pretty. Galashiels is okay in parts. Jedburgh is interesting as is Melrose.

No big towns or huge shopping centres. It's like stepping back in time 40 years. Very little public transport and ome of ony two mainland counties with no railway station. You'll need a car.

Berwick upon Tweed is also worth a visit.
