Itching between the toes, especially the fourth and the fifth. You may also notice sogging of the skin and maybe slight redness also. Best is to keep your feet dry and change your socks regularly with fresh ones. Antifungal creams and lotions are available and sometimes over the counter also. These may be having Miconazole, Tolnaftate, Ketaonazole, or Clotrimazole as one of the base. You will have to keep applying three to four times daily for 21 days, despite you feeling well within say a week after having begun to apply the cream or the lotion. Make sure that you put on your socks before you put on your underwear, as the infection from the toes may be passed on to the underwear and then to your groin as well.

You have described the classic symptoms of athletes foot. That's caused by a fungus, and can easily be treated with OTC athletes foot medications. Available at all pharmacies and Wal Mart, look for the medication that contain "Miconizole" or "Tolnaftate" the generic brands work just as well, and are cheaper. They come available in creams, spray's and a powder spray, that may be better for your son,it will help with the sweaty feet problem.Follow directions on the box or ask the Pharmacist. You will need to remove the braces and clean them in some bleach water to kill the fungus there, also put his shoes & socks in the wash, using very hot water. This fungas loves warm and wet damp places, showers and shoes, between toes, and the groin are prime places for outbreaks. If medically posible, his feet should be allowed to be out of the splints several times a day for the feet to dry out and prevent further troubles like this, ask your MD.Take care. SW RNP

lol No, listen i've had Athlete's foot before and believe it only let's hurts the infected spot, the spot will be dry and it will hurt whn you have steped and applied some pressure to the infected area. No symptoms and yes there are a variety of cures., i won't name them all but get it checked by a doctor to see how sever the infection is, he'll decide on what medication you should take.Athlete's foot is a fungy know as a fungus, that eats your foot tissues so it really hurts it bleeds inside the foot it self.

Yes, they all can. Athlete's foot is one of the skin problems caused by yeast (Candida) fungus. Ringworm, thrush, jock itch, and vaginitis are some of the others. One book I read also indicates psoriasis and eczema are others.
Check out www.hufa.org and click on the yeast link for more info.
Treatment, any antifungal cream, spray or powder. Cream with powder is my preferred method. Takes about a day to get rid of the itching.

Athletes foot is awful, I had it, I assume from the health club I used to belong to, the skin in feet basically looks like jungle rot, it starts pealing away. I tried all the over the counter cures they don't work well, what works best is Vodka, wash your feet with vodka, a friend of mine told me and it worked well

well on the market are all kinds of ointments and oils but the important thing to remember is to always dry your feet well after washing and do not use talcum powder because it clogs up the pores.
i found walking on the sandy beach near my home the best remedy. try it and find out yourself!
