In N Out always. Besides, Carl's Jr. has some real nasty commercials that turn my stomach.

In 'n Out - not even close.

They use fresh ingredients, unlike the giant national chains:
Fresh handcut potatoes (though some people don't care for that.)
Fresh, hand-torn lettuce. Not green-confetti-in-a-bag.
Fresh, sliced onions - you can even get them grilled. Not reconstituted little pieces of who-knows-what- -masquerading-as-diced-onions.
Fresh soft rolls made with potato flour.

In the other corner:
Carls Jr - flame-broiled over natural gas. Kind of reminds me of a BBQ at an oil refinery.

You must live in So Cal!!! woohoo!! You know, that's a hard question because In & out makes a really good animal style burger, with grilled onions...mmm...and animal style fries...mmm.. but on the other hand..Carls has a really big varitiy of foods. But, all in all, the Coca Cola ratios at In and Out are much better so I will go with In N Out. "in n out, in n out, thats what a hambuger is all about" Double Double animal style everything.

This is basically asking:

Fresh hot juicy burgers or old, previously-frozen fried burgers?

I'm not an In 'n Out fan, but even to me there is no comparison. Go with In 'n Out.
