k so eumaios (the swineherd) is hosting Odysseus (as a beggar) .. and they make a pact... but what does he expect if Odysseus returns??? and plz i need serious answers so no spam/stupid answers...

Okay, so if my memory serves me right, the swineherd who helps Odysseus regain his throne doesn't really expect anything in return. He knew Odysseus before he sailed away as a young man and is disgruntled (like most everyone else) at the spectacle taking place at the Palace with the numerous courtiers chasing after Penelope. So, he helps Odysseus in order to set things right in the kingdom, not for any monetary compensation.

Book 21
Odysseus follows Eumaeus and Philoetius outside. He assures himself of their loyalty and then reveals his identity to them by means of the scar on his foot. He promises to treat them as Telemachus’s brothers if they fight by his side against the suitors.
