Two weeks ago I had a job interview for a position as an instructor at XXXXschool.
The interview went quite well. I sent a follow-up thank you note to the principal. School does not begin there until September 5, 2006.
I have been offered a contract in another school, but would much rather take the position in XXXX school. Naturally, I do not want to hold out and end up without any position.
Is it inappropriate to call the principal of XXXX school and inquire about whether or not the position has been filled?
How long can I keep the other school administration waiting for an answer?
School begins there on August 28th.

Don't keep the offer hanging. My co-worker's daughter waited 4 hours to give them her decision and when she called they said, never mind, the position is filled.

Contact your school of preference immediately and ask it a decision has been made there. Be honest and say you have an offer but would rather work for them. If they can't give you an answer immediately, a bird in the hand is better than one in the bush. You can always reapply to them next school year.

i could say certain call and keep on with up listen is what you may say, I had a interview very last week and that i wasn't confident if per chance I had neglected your call so i needed to envision the status, has the region been crammed? practice that yet do not sweat it to a lot they do have lots on applicants sometime so that they could no longer are turning out to be by ability of all of them fantastically being in the previous a holiday lots of persons take day without work so that they are likely lower than staffed.

It would probably be ok to call and ask if the position had been filled as long as you do it as politely as possible.

go ahead and call and ask if the position is filled - be honest, tell them that you have another offer but would prefer to work for them!
