In most States it is, because you wont be able to hear another car honk at you. But some people have stereos so loud they can't hear anything anyway. Check with the Local Police Dept to find out your local laws.

Depends on the state. Its illegal in most though. I know its recently become illegal in Pennsylvania and Florida as well to drive with your ears covered (unless you're deaf and its a prescribed hearing aid).

I think it depends on where you live. In at least some places, it is illegal to wear headphones on both ears while driving.

I don't know if it is illegal but it's probably not a good idea because you wont be able to hear any sirens... police, fire truck, ambulance, not to mention the train.

i doubt it but just like cellphones i think they are dangerously distracting... not to mention that it would be almost impossible to give right of way to an approaching emergency vehicle if you cannot hear it.
