I want to take a mini vacation with me and my daughter - neither of us have seen the ocean. I'm looking for a kid friendly beach - preferrably with swimming/tanning weather in October. Does such a place exist?? Hotel recommendations?

We live in Madison, WI - but the whole point is to travel to a beach, where I live shouldn't really be relevant...
Planning on flying anyway - well, I was until that crap in London this morning anyway!! ;)

Definitely such a place exists!

Tell me where in the country (I'm guessing you're in the US) you are, what considerations beyond a kid-friendly environment you're interested in (cost, travel time, airline connections, etc.) and I'll give you some ideas.

My favorite beach place of all time is Bermuda, and it's definitely both kid friendly and suitable for an October vacation, but it would help if I had more of your parameters.

Edited after getting your additional information:

My Bermuda recommendation definitely stands! Very friendly and kid-friendly island with lots to do and see besides lying on the most beautiful pink sand beaches in the world. There are lots of good package deals available and airfares are as low as $150 US round trip, depending on where you're flying from.

I would stay away from the larger "resort hotels" in Hamilton as they're on the pricey side and more adult-oriented. There are smaller hotels, rental cottages, and other alternatives available through the tourism office, linked below.

There are aquariums, museums, diving, boat rentals, botanical gardens with exotic plants, and lots of other activities perfect for your kids your daughter's age. I took my then-14-year-old son on a trip there a dozen years ago and he still talks about it. We rented a Moped, met a lot of the locals, stayed in a rental condo on the ocean, played golf, went diving, and hung around on the beaches. The place is very safe, very friendly, and relatively inexpensive. I'd love to retire there someday - if it isn't paradise on earth, I don't know what is!

It also has the advantage of being only a short airline hop from stateside, so you're not spending two full days of your precious vacation sitting around airplanes or airports.

Click on the second link below for a list of attractions and things to do in Bermuda.

well i'm making the suggestion even though you should get there before october. dewey beach, delaware. not nearly as crowded as a lot of beaches are in the summer. 30 minutes from the boardwalk in ocean city, maryland. great outlet shopping, restaurants. we've always stayed at the alantic ocean side hotel. don't quote me on that name of the hotel, it's something like that. enjoy your vacation.

There is a hotel package based out of Cancun, Mexico for families....maybe Club Med? They have characters and events that are fun for children. It is beautiful and relaxing and takes you a world away to truly enjoy your vacation....no one can reach you! Look into that - you would both love it and remember it!

an theory for a family individuals vaccation like yours: Wisconsin Dells. that is in Wisconsin and that's the Water park capital of u . s . of america. there are loads of waterparks, entertainment parks, museums, boat cruises, hotels, and issues to do. that is plenty greater perfect than disney international.
