errrrrrrrr... I am not shallow.....but my boyfriend is the original Shallow Hal. You see....I am over weight,,and not too bad looking. but it took me a long time to get a boyfriend! I was just wondering HOW my neighbor was attracting the opposite sex. Sorry for any of you thought that my question was grounds for being shallow...Maybe I should have worded it different....

I hate to say this, cuz it sounds like I'm bashing my husband, but...My husband is tall, but not handsome and he's extremely overweight, not rich, just a regular guy making an average salary (think John Candy). When we were dating the women were all OVER him, I was amazed by it. The trend continues, even after 15 years, and it has to do with his awesome personality - he's hysterically funny, smart and everyone loves him. I had never dated anyone like him - always went for the good looking hot guys. Wow did I get lucky, but if you're used to being superficial (I was back then) it's hard to understand.

If you don't mind, I'd like to say: what does it matter what he looks like as long as he is happy. You know thats what wrong with most people today. They are always in someone else's business and because he is happy there has to be something that he must be doing right? Maybe, God blessed him in other areas other than looks or height. Just be happy for him and if you had someone maybe you wouldn't be so concerned about what he is doing. I don't mean to sound mean and if I do I do apologize but some people can be so happy when someone else is unhappy hopefully that is not your case.

I think he must have a beautiful personality or a lot of money.A lot of women are getting tired of being viewed a objects,and treated as such.The thing about older men(50+) is that they are from the ol' school.Back when men respected women because they carried themselves with respect.These men tend to treat women as the queens they are.That's what I think.

He probably knows how to be properly attentive to a woman, to anticipate what she will enjoy doing. He probably really listens to her instead of just thinking about what he is going to say to impress her next. Why don't you try asking him instead of speculating here? If I were you I would be a little less critical of his outward appearance and more attentive to his inner self which is apparently what makes him attractive to the ladies.
