After fumbling with matches trying to ignite his shoe bomb in view of the passengers and stewardesses in an American airlines flight, Richard Reid, the Al Qaeda shoe bomber, was subdued by several of the passengers. He later claimed in his trial that he would gladly give his life for Al Qaeda and would do it again if he had the chance. He is considered a hero by the muslim extremists.

With the limited amount of explosives in his shoes, he was probably hoping to blow out a window. You can't do that from the bathroom.

LOL, Someone who is willing and attempting to blow himself up with a shoe bomb, whatever his reasoning, isn't exactly a rocket scientist!
