Its getting close to November. I would say expect one more threat before the election,
PS
I am not saying that the threat is not real but I am saying that they can pick and choose when to bring the Investigation out in the public eye. If they had been investigating these guys for lets just say ball park figure 6 months did they just find out yesterday that they were going to blow up planes.

a little of both I think; I have answered some questions in the forum about political views on terrorism and have mentioned that there is a pattern with this administration to release terror alerts just when Bush's rating go down. The fear doctrine is used quite well by this them and feeds on the weak minded. Having said that; I believe this particular incident bears some truth to it and it's a good thing the British were able to intervene. Of course perhaps Bush will benefit from this or even take credit for it, if you notice this morning the news and reports mainly are focused on what we say, not the British. All in all I think it's credible and we should not be surprised that it happened; in today's war mongering politics anything can happen, I just hope we don't panic so much that we again give up a little more of our freedom by setting unnecessary limits on what we can take on board airplanes. We should focus on the problem and take steps to prevent them....take for instance the fact that we can't even take water into the plane......assume for the moment that we have already been searched and cleared from security before we come up to the area where food is served, how in the world can we possible not take water on-board? that to me shows we have a bigger problem on how we screen doesn't it? Once you have been cleared and are in the 'green' zone; the risk should be considerable less and if not, then look at the problem and fix it I say.....

Absolutely a credible threat. There has been intel of another plane-related plot for months and thanks to some timely and well-coordinated work, the bullet has been dodged again. I tire of the conspiracy buffs who gladly want to believe that the US government has nothing better to do than coordinate some worldwide farce just to improve it's chances in the next election, for a candidate they haven't even announced yet. Please.

It was a smoky threat. The authorities are trying to make it sound more ominous than it really is.

I'd be willing to bet one of my toes that it was an election year setup.
