As far as diet goes, the best thing to do is make sure your getting the recomended servings of each of the food groups, talk to your doctor if you feel there are needed changes to your eating habits. Listen to your cravings, many people will tell you to stay away from this but don't. Cravings are how your body tells you "Hey I need the minerals and Vitamins found in this food!!". Try and eat healthy, lots of fruits, veggies, lean meat, 2% milk, healthy carbs. If you have a craving for something, satisfy it, even if its not healthy (it's probably the only time you can get away with it) Just try not to do make it a habit. Drink lots of water, and walk walk walk. Also prevent foods that are acidy or greasy, Heartburn is the worst when you're pregnant!

Oh there are some many different things not to eat when you are pregnant. Go on this website called babycenter. It tells you every thing you need to know. The only things I stayed away from were
1 eggs
2 peanuts
3 sea food
4 chicken - only cause if it was not cooked properly. Ate my own cooked chicken
5 mayo

And thats about it really.

Try to avoid nitrates ( hot dogs, bologna). Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, lean protein and lean dairy. Fruit juice is good but in moderation as most of it contains added sugars. Watch your sodium, processed sugars, trans and saturated fats. Limit if not eliminate your caffeine and alcohol intake. Basically you want to have a healthy, normal diet. If it's good for you, it's good for the baby. Good luck and congratulations.

Certain foods need to be avoided during pregnancy. Listeria, which is caused by uncooked meats, some seafood, unpasterized milk and soft cheeses, can cause birth defects, miscarriages and stillbirth. Here is an interesting article on diet during pregnancy:

Don't go on any diets. Just eat what you would normally eat, and a little more for the baby
