I get them all the time too. Try putting ice on the spot as soon as you feel that familiar pain/ tingle. I put carmex on after I ice it. Sometimes this works really well. For me, the faster I catch it at the beginning the faster I get rid of it.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) is what brings about cold sores (aka fever blisters). You might be exposed to HSV-1 just by sharing drinks, used forks, shared lip balm, and by lip contact with anyone which has them. They can be considerably uncomfortable blisters which may turn up near the mouth, or perhaps the inside of the mouth or nose, elsewhere on the face, and anywhere else on the skin.
They could reoccur simply because of greater stress, colds, a fever, cold temperature, particular foods, as well as too much sunshine. The region will start to itch, burn, tingle, and then a new blister will surface. The blister could dry up and develop a yellowish crust. They could stay from seven days to 14 days. An individual might attempt to cover it up the sore using makeup, but this normally makes it even worse.
To remove them, an individual could try using a cold sore special product, make use of chapstick with sun screen, use aloe vera, ingest echinacea, vitamins C and also E, as well as completely staying away from pressing it. By embracing some lifestyle changes, it is achievable to hinder them plus avoid them from happening again.

Cold sores, fever blisters, etc, are caused by herpes simplex, a mutation of the same virus that causes chicken pox. If you had chicken pox as a child, the virus remains in your nervous system into adulthood and can express itself as mouth sores or Shingles rashes anywhere on the body. It is NOT genetically inherited.
There are many products available over the counter for the treatment of the mouth sores, generally the more expensive they are, the more effective they are. I have found the product ABREVA to be helpful. Most doctors will not prescribe prescription antivirals for cold sores, because they resolve pretty much on their own in a few weeks. Antiviral meds like acyclovir, aka Zovirax are reserved for shingles outbreaks or genital herpes because of the intense pain associated with those expressions of the virus. And there are risks to taking antivirals that make prescribing them for cold sores unwarranted.

The best over the counter product I've found is called Vira-medix, it will clear it up in a couple days but if you can put it on when you just start feeling your lip itch or swell, then it can stop in in its tracks. Your Doctor can also perscribe Valtrex which also work best if you start taking them at the first sign of a breakout. Since you have the virus living in your nerve, there is no cure but a Physician will ususally give you a perscription that you can keep at home for when the next break out occurs. Figure out what triggers them, stress, sunlight, dry chapped lips...and do your best to avoid the triggers to reduce the number of breakouts.

Get Tea Tree Cold Sore Cream. You can get it at wal-mart for about $5 in the pharmacy section. It's the best thing for cold sores ever.

I would recommend going to see your doctor. They make medications that clear them up. And cold sores are a form of herpes, that are usually passed on genetically. (just so you know)
