I've thought about that myself a lot, too. In my opinion, I think it should. This way we'd have a much lower divorce rate between couples. You'd "contract" to each other for 5 years.....at the end of those 5 years you can decide to renew if you've enjoyed your time together and think things can go another 5 years. Or you can just decide to not renew and meet other people. It would take messiness of divorce and just throw it out the window. There'd be no arguments about who takes what furniture, no hassle over lawyers and divorce papers, and ultimately it would save everyone a lot of money. I really do hope something like this would come into effect one day. Great question!

Yes! If done with lots of thought, each person knows the other is choosing to stay over and over again and not just sticking around through the years out of obligation and habit. Not to mention, sometimes the circumstances and terms of the marriage change significantly, so it's a good idea to reconsider and renew the contract periodically.

No, marriage is a contract under god and it should not have to be renewed in any amount of years. People get married to stay together not to worry about in five years or so if they should renew the contract. I think renewing your vows once or so is up to the couple themselves and it is romantic when they choose to.

Hmm, very interesting, I would say yes. I mean lets look at that. If you were up or not for renewal every 5 years it may make some people work harder at their marriage. And just think how fun renewing your vows would be.

No, marriage is for life. However, my husband and I do renew our vows every five years just to show our solid commitment to each other.

No--i don't think of marriage licenses might want to be renewable. that variety of takes faraway from the unique that technique of marriage--a covenant, a freelance of a 'til death do you area' nature. in spite of the undeniable fact that, I do agree that there is a difficulty with the divorce cost contained in the U. S., and propose that marriage licenses no longer be so definitely had contained in the first position. perhaps they might want to be required to attend marriage training, that practice hardship-free marriage skills, i.e. the thanks to strive against with out degrading your significant different, the thanks to take care of funds, the thanks to make your ideas up who receives what chores, etc. as well, if someone has to have the chance of marriage license no longer being renewed to shop up their 'A' recreation, then their courting is in conserving with worry-no longer love. and that i'm sorry, yet worry wears you out, and ultimately you'll grow to be bored of the manipulation and end. Love is the in hardship-free words reason to marry, and "ideal love casts out worry."
