I'm thinking about going to medical school to be a General Doctor one day, but what does it take to be a doctor? How many years? Is it REALLY that hard? Will I make it? I'm not the smartest person in the world and my memory span isn't very long, so I'm not sure if I could do it, but still... Back to my questions ^

Medical school is a huge time investment. I take it you are beginning college, so the pre-reqs for medical school are basic sciences and a few upper level- chem 1/2 bio 1/2 organic chem 1/2 biochem, a calculus and/or stat course, and to increase chances immunology, cellular biology, or other advanced classes. Either way, a lot of science and it all shows up on the MCAT, so it is necessary to retain. Average GPA's for med school are about 3.5, with heavy focus on the science GPA. Also, volunteer/shadowing/research extra curriculars also help distinguish you between the others. If you set your mind you can do it. Just remember-each year 35000 students apply, about 17,000 get in. It's not EASY.
