Bring everything you plan on using throughout the year. It sucks to have to make several trips home just cause you forgot your favorite CD. I've never had anything stolen from my dorm. So good luck and have fun!

Bring whatever you want, but be conscious of the space you have. You only have so much room and you have to share it with someone else. Not to mention that you'll be getting a lot more stuff in a few days when you buy books and notebooks, etc.

I called my college roommate a few weeks before school started and we divided up some of the bigger stuff. Like, I brought my stereo and she brought her printer. That way we had a little more breathing room.

A lot of this depends on what college you are going to. Dorm room sizes vary drastically from school to school, as does safety. You should try to always lock your dorm room door... even if you are just running down the hall to a friends room.

And, especially lock it when you sleep! It's a good idea from a safety standpoint. And, on a funny, (but a little gross) side, you never know what a drunk college student will do on his/her way home. A friend of mine woke up to a kid peeing in his closet one night b/c the drunk guy thought he had walked into a bathroom!

Whatever you do, don't worry... in a few weeks, you'll figure out where everything should go and it will start to feel like home!

That depends on the size of your dorm. If you have somewhere to store all of your stuff, then bring it. It's only likely that it'll get stolen if you don't lock your room....

hmz i have never had anything stolen...but depends on the school you go to. my first school wasn't the best but still nobody stole anything :) so feel free. this is my advice. of course check how big is ur room because u may not have much space. and still if u have free cable and internet of course u need to bring a tv and computer :) good luck with school.

Everything at once. Have your parents help you, no matter how embarassing you think it is. I tried to set up my dorm and so did my roomie but it didnt work we called her parents and mine, and we had the best dorm room because it was organized like our homes were.
