the name tabloid originated with the smaller size used for the magazine or newspaper and were generally used by the cheaper publications specializing in sensationalism, celebrities, scandal and unbelievable stories
_rag or rag sheet & pulp mag, from being made with inferior quality paper
_yellow sheet, because many were originally produced with a yellow header or front sheet splashes to emphasize lurid headlines
_red label, because many now have red headers
_junk food news, flash 'n trash ... these two are pretty self-explanitory
