Yeah just as long as it's not 2 male bettas or an aggressive fish! I have always had a male betta in my big aquarium with all my other fish!

Of course you can, you just have to be careful about it. Male Betta's are aggressive and you can't put two males together or else they'll fight till death. It's OK to put 2 female Betta's together but they might get bored or mad.You can also put 1 female and a male together, they won't fight, they'll get along together and won't fight, maybe they'll even mate, but they'll only do that if the water is always clean. Also, never put a mirror in the tank or else the male Betta will go nutz and think that it's another male and it'll fight with the mirror until it dies.
Here are websites that may help your needs or give you some info on Betta's and their personality:

Well, I guess these are some pretty good websites on Betta's. Also, male Betta's are the pretty ones, the female are the ones that have the short fins. You might also want a 5 gallon tank to keep a healthy betta.

That all depends on the tank. If you are keeping your betta in a bowl the answer is no. If you're talking about a heated and filtered minimum 10 gal tank, you can add a few non agressive community fish. I have kept bettas with small tetras like Cardinals and Platies before with no problems. The key is to find fish that won't pick at his fins and that don't have long flowing fins that he will pick at (ie: no guppies). Despite what people think, Bettas do not go around killing every fish you put in with it. Two males will fight with eachother and a male will most likely kill a female betta unless spawning.

If you have him in a filtered, heated, and cycled tank, yes. You can add everything from a couple of neons to a dwarf frog to some ghost shrimp. Pretty much anything as long as it doesn't have long, flowing fins and it's relatively the same size as the betta or smaller. Keep in mind that you will need to have plenty of hiding spots and either fake or real plants for other fish to hide in the event your betta does become aggressive. Your tank will also need to be larger than 10-gallons.
If you have the betta in a bowl, then no, nothing else can go in with him.

Keep in mind bettas especially males are very social fish, and are generally happier alone. Generally it's okay in tanks larger than 5 gallons with lots of cover. In smaller bowls and tanks a male will often consider the entire tank/bowl to be his territory, and depending on the temperament of the betta the results can be disastrous.
Note that contrary to some of the above posts you shouldn't mix male and female bettas. At best case they will mate, and you'll need to deal with 100+ offspring. (Of course after mating the male will attempt to chase away the female with often deadly results.) At worse they'll kill each other.
Even females are territorial, and will fight if kept together. Unlike the males, females generally work out a pecking order after a week or so of fin ripping fights. (Generally) I wouldn't put more than 1 per 5-10 gallons unless they were kept together from birth. Also with females adding a new female will cause fighting to break out again. Lots of cover is important in a sorority tank.

You sure can put other fish in with your betta, NOT another betta though because they will fight. However, I use to have tetras and catfish in with my betta, it was a 75 gallon tank also so just make sure it's big enough to give everyone room and you should have no problems.

No way! He has to be alone for the rest of his life. A betta is also known as a japanese fighting fish, for a reason. And I've tried putting a female in with mine before, but he just bullied her and made her hide on the floor of the aquarium all the time.

You can put a crab in with him...bettas like company despite their reputation so long as there is only one male per tank. I've had luck with tetras so long as the tank is at least 10 gallons and make sure your betta has a hidey-hole. He gets along with the gourami as well...

if you have him in a small bowl, then no. But they thrive fabulously in larger tanks with other community fish that do not have long fins (longer finned fish may confude the betta and it might get aggressive towards it and nip the fins). But one betta per tank, please, so they'll be no betta-fights. I have a betta in my 55 gallon with plenty of other small community fish and they get along great!
