sorry to break it to you but 30-40 K check up doens't do ****. sides a tune up. Plugs, airfilter oil change adjust timing, rotate tires. I do this myself and it costs me $50. They do 'check' stuff truth is though checking somethign doesnt' do crap for me. If I go to a regular auto shop and have the car checked they will charge $20. btw 40,000 miles on a 2000 jetta, .. dude do you ever drive that thing. ?

well there spose to so just remember that if something goes wrong and you can prove that you maintaned your vehicle to there recomendations then guess who gets to pay for it in the event it actually wasnt done. 700 bucks is alot cheaper than a 3000 dollar transmission or engine

$700,,,,,,,,you got ripped off,,,unless your car resides on Alfa Centuri,,,then the mechanics bill may reflect the distance travelled.
should have only cost you around $150

well unless you we're having a problem with the car before you took it in, you shouldn't feel a difference.
what you did was preventitive maintenance, and unless you are a mechanic, it will be hard to tell.

you really don't know. but you might try checking the trans. fluid and seeing if it's fresh. i don't really know much about transmissions..just engines. but if the fluid is black then you've got trouble.
