I'd probably have some kind of game show to decide who gets the million but they only get half and the other half goes to a charity that they choose

Rather than donate it to a single charity, I would have my wife start a Not For Profit organization, and then give away the money as needed. (She would not have a salary).

Every day you here about someone who was burned out of their home, or suffered some loss that money might help. I wonder about the kids on tv who are looking for a home even though they are 16 years old. Some money toward further education could help them.

The Not For Profit organization could keep the "secrecy" of who gave the money and make it anonymous.

I would split the money up, so as to be able to touch as many people as possible.

Some of it would definately go to local scholarships. I would want to put $500 a year for the next ten or so years into a small local scolarship that was named in memory of a friend of mine who was killed in a car crash our senior year.

I would also want to lay some of they money back to start a sort of fund for a local art scholarship, because there is nothing like that around here. Probably put $20000 or so into investments for that and then give scolarships out of the interest that it earned. Even something like $500 or $1000 is a big help when it comes to paying for books.

That would leave $75000

A local charity. Love INC. helped us a lot when my father was injuried. They help by distributing things like walkers, wheelchairs, ramps, and other medical supplies to people who cannot afford to purchase them. They would definately get a contribution. Probably around $15000 as they mostly work with donated items and volunteer hours I'm sure it would be a great help to their program.

I would also buy a couple cows or possibly pigs at auction and have them butchered and the meat distributed to needy families in the area and food banks. We'll say, for the sake of arguement that I spend $10000 in that over the course of a couple years.

$50000 left.

I would probably put the rest of this money into funds helping clean up the local drug problem. But not directly into rehab services. Probably try to work with some others in the community and set up a sort of "transitional housing" program for children and spouses of addicts and alcoholics.

I would donate every penny to Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas Tx.
They performed two major surgeries in my son when he was very young, due to his premature birth causing Cerebral Palsy.
And they did it at no charge ! I was in the middle of a nasty divorce, and had very little money.
Everything they did was at no charge. Surgeries, orthopedic shoes, every check up until he was 12 years old.
They are a "charity only " organization. I couldn't give them enough !!
My son walks with a " gait " today, but who knows if he would be walking at all unless for them?
Yep !!! Every penny !!!!
And he's only one out of I don't know how many hundreds or thousands of children and families they help every year.
People come from all over the country for their services.
God bless all that work there and those that support them !

We have a place in my city, called Our Daily Bread, it,s sorta a soup kitchen, but with better meals than your average soup kitchen, They feed about 100 to 150 people 5 days a week, & they depend on donations from the comunity, & food from the big supermarkets, like day old bread, & other things that are not sellable, but still good,
That would be my donation.

I would donate it to a charity I trust because then it would go to good use. Giving it to a stranger is something I wouldn't do only because I wouldn't know that they were doing something good with the money... but wait... my boyfriend could be my stranger. Hmmm...

I would creat a charity and use the money to do what I think needs to be done in my community. I don't trust anyone else to do better with what I can do/ accomplish with the money

I would try to donate it to as many people as possible. Small but fair shares, no one charity or person in particular.

I would donate the money to a well established organization like American Cancer Society or something like that. This is so the I am confident that the money is being put to good use.
