You know I like all people and I wish we could all get along but I read the questions that are asked and I see someone claiming to be straight saying how much they hate and so on. If we offend you so bad why even read what we have to say? I know as soon as I see you’re a basher I don't even bother to read the rest of what you have to say. Learn to get along and you will feel better inside.

It just seems that there are people in this world that have nothing better to do than make other people feel like crap. I believe these people had something happen to them when they were growing up - parents that didnt pay attention to them or always put them down, or they were the kid that everyone picked on. So now they feel its their turn to do the bashing and the hating. People fear the unknown - they dont know any gay people and they were brought up in enviornments where nothing out of the "norm" was accepted. They spend so much time throwing their opinion on other people that theyre wasting a good part of their lives - these people are truly miserable inside!!!

this could be just a rant, but then again, it could be a serious question! ... assuming it's a serious question, here's a short lesson in psychology

there are at least three (and possibly more) root causes of this behavior that i can think of: homophobia, prejudice and righteousness

homophobia is indeed well named ... phobia comes from the greek and means fear ... the fear is not of other gay people, it is of their own sexuality ... they're also afraid for their children ... here's the interesting part ... although they would never admit it, even to themselves, they are secretly interested, tempted and curious and they feel that temptation and it scares them ... because they're caught between a rock and a hard place ... they've been indoctrinated by either the church or by societal values that have been absorbed from religious influences and cannot recognize or tolerate these feelings in themselves ... so they have to actively push it away by projecting this resistance outwardly towards other gay people

btw the way, this is also the reason many of them think it's a choice ... according to kinsey and lots of other folks who have studied human sexuality, most people are at least to some extent CONSCIOUSLY bisexual, in that they have sexual feelings for both sexes ... this doesn't even begin to count all the people that have latent homosexual feelings ... so for many of these people, it is a choice and they choose to be heterosexual ... so they assume that because it was a choice they were capable of, you can make that choice too ... what they fail to consider is that whereas they may only have mild homosexual feelings, other people may have strong, undenable homosexual feelings ... hence the claim: you could change if you wanted to

prejudice is caused by feelings of inferiority ... the person who secretly feels small, inadequate or powerless looks for someone or some group to feel better than and then vilifies them in order to try to make themselves feel better

righteousness has the same root as prejudice, but in this case, the perp does not vilify, they just feel smug and/or contemptuous, often while professing feelings of love ... the root is still feelings of inferiority

so for all these people, underneath it all, even though they are striking out, either actively or passively, they are suffering ... they deserve our pity, not our hate ... i agree with you .. they basically don't feel good inside, but their proselytizing or hate-mongering can make them feel momentarily a little better

Not all straight people hate gays..., I'm straight and I see no difference between the straight or gay. There all the same to me. I think they just like to write mean things and by doing so they feel better about themselves. Don't let it bother you because haters will always be around; unfortunately. Also, if a person can't be accepting of others; it's only a sign of their own shortcomings.

Thanks for saying what you have said.
I wish there were a way of letting these guys know that as much as they may feel some animosity towards us, we don't hate straight people! Our parents were straight, our sisters and brothers are straight, hell, even some of my best friends are straight!

We just want to be treated with respect, and be considered equal to others. When we say mean things to those of the straight community who come in here to bash us, and spread hatred, remember that when they have com into the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered section, it is as if they had come to our homes.

there are some straight people who are actually curious and have questions about us about things they don't understand. some of the questions do sound stupid sometimes, yes. but those "bashers" I think just have nothing better to do than try to spread their hatred and intolerance. I think, somehow in their tiny, closed little minds it makes feel superior to point fingers and pass judgment on others. only thing it does is make them look like inferior jerks!

I agree but you know as well as we do that there are just some folks that find immense satisfaction out of offending people regardless of whether they claim to be a Christian or not! Sadly, some of the Christians are the very worst at doing this. The Bible is often used as a battle weapon instead of the tool it was intended for....guidance! Hold your head high, my friend, and be proud of the person that you are!

to keep things interesting,... to motivate some of us to get off our butts and get involved,...

Its too easy to get complacent, and while you got it good where you are, there are other members of the gay community that don't have it so good. For some its a struggle to make it to tomorrow, while others are being exploited and victimized. We have to do something to get the word out that we are people too, that we have a say in issues, we exist,... You can't just wish us away,...

Because - you have to endeavour to be a better human being, don't just sit there like a pimple on your nose.

Because when you ask questions, you don't have to be at the particular section of the site, you pick them from a dropdown menu.

So some people ask stupid anti gay things in the gay section of the end and end up making themselves look stupid.

I don't think this question really applies to me, as I don't dislike or hate anyone. However, I find it shallow (for lack of a better word) that gay people seem to define themselves soley based on the fact that they are homosexual. One's identity shouldn't be all about who you are attracted to, want to love, or have sex with. What disturbs me is the way gay people use thier sexual orientation to define who they are as a person. You are much more than who you fall in love with or who you prefer to sleep with. One's identity should be defined and expresses fully, not just as homosexual or heterosexual.
PS- I hope you understand what I'm saying.

life doesnt work out the way you want it to. Gay issues are sensitive issues these days and may not be as accepted. but the best way is to understand each other and accept it, like me! one of my friend is gay and at first i was skocked, but later on i accepted it, so its basically up to the person to take it in negatively or positively.
