The state is nicknamed the Nutmeg state not the people....Like Texas is the Lone Star, New York the Empire State....Florida the Sunshine State etc....

the people here in Connecticut are not nicknamed "nutmeg", and if you go down south they call us Yankees, Published in 1889, Connecticut Yankee is one of the world's first stories about time travel. Just because the Bronx bombers took are nickname, does not mean nothing. And many sections in Connecticut, have many different nicknames. So you just might find a nutmegger somewhere in Connecticut!!

Because they are supposed to be as spicy as the nutmeg hard seeds which gives a flavor.

Because of the state's early trade in nutmeg and other spices. No, they don't actually grow it there.
