I recently asked this question. Which is said more often? Lying like a dog or lying like a mug? The results of that question said that more people said lying like a dog. I showed it to her and she just cursed tha **** outta me and kept insisting that she was right and that I am wrong. Is this a type of narcissistic attitude? How can I deal with this person other than just letting her way. Here is the copy of the conversation we were having

You're going to have many people disagree with you in life...better learn to say that we agree to disagree...why does there have to be a right and a wrong, but instead different points of view?

I was once told "Pick the hill you want to die on". Sometimes, just letting them rant is the best way. For your own sanity, you have to decide if it's worth it. Pick the issues you'll argue, and I think this one is not worth the trouble. And as a sidenote, I'm used to hearing "lying like a sidewalk", But I'm Canadian, so it might be a geographical thing.

I personally would ask her to prove to you that she is right. She shouldn't have any problem doing that if she is right. If you want, you could ask her why she thinks she is right. No matter what it's really not worth the hassle over a stupid saying anyway. If she wants to say it her way then fine, let her. Sounds to like she has a bigger issue to deal with. I don't think that you should do anything else.

With people like this you have to pick your battles and this one is not worthy of your time. My mother-in-law is a know-it-all, narcissistic tyrant. Sometimes I have to call her on her behavior... like when she is deliberately hurting someone's feelings or embarrassing someone in a room full of people by making jokes at their expense. At other times I ignore or avoid her for the sake of my own sanity. *L*

First of all who is this person to you and how important are they in your life? Life is too short to argue over little things. Eventually, you will get tired of arguing. Also, it's lying like a rug.

Do you not have the same narcissistic trait, only more so, if you need us to validate your point?
Why must you choose to prove your point to this person? Will you enhance their experience of life if you insist on them knowing 'THE TRUTH'?
You could be one step away from being a cult leader!

If someone refused to learn a simple lesson the easy way, just let him/her be because he/she is going to learn that very lesson the hard way. maybe in a pub place where more people would have to laugh at him/her. Its a matter of time.

She cussed you out for being right? Sounds kinda off-balance. I'd avoid her... like a dog.
