I had various options to choose from:
1. newspaper ads.
2. friend and family's recommendation
3. temp agency
I realize that it's important to know if the
job suits you and not always how you
suit for the job. It's important to know
what you want best for you: is it for money
or for personal growth?
I had an interesting discussion with my good
friend last night who's making a major
career move. She's been very successful
at her past job, but she's decided to move
out of her comfort zone to pursue her true passion.
The problem was her former job offered her
more benefits and security. And the offer
that she's received at her new job has none
of the benefits, but a reputable name which
would look great on her CV if needed in
the future. The third offer was a job at
about the same salary, but the company
was not as reputable as the 2nd one.
The decision really has to be about what
makes you the most happiest. For some,
money seems to work. For others, money
doesn't necessarily make them happy.
For some, money doesn't really matter,
but it's really about how they can best
improve on themselves, on their skills,
and on their craft.
The best thing about my job would have
to be that I love what I do, but it doesn't
necessarily pay as much money. But
I've decided for myself that that's more
important than monetary things and that
I'm happy with the choices that I've made...

I aquired my job by applying for a different position with the company and after reading what was on my resume they did not want my talents to be wasted in that position so they moved me up into an office job. Micro- manager boss and not enough pay for the responsibllity thrust upon me.

I acquired my current job through the grace of God. I am a victims advocate in a prosecutor's office in a courthouse. I had done my internship in the purchasing dept of the the county commissioner's office in the same courthouse in 1998 but there were no job openings at that time. In 1999, I got a job as a clerk in the tax commissioner's office in the courthouse. In 2001 I read an ad in the paper about my current job. I worked on the first floor. The prosecutor's office is on the 3rd floor. In the few years that I had worked for the county gov't, I kept to myself. I wasn't in a clique and didn't do much socializing outside of work. I went up to the 3rd floor and spoke to the current victims advocate and asked her about what the job entailed. She shared the information with me and I began to research advocacy. I put an application in at the Dept. of Labor. Over 70 people applied, but only 11 got interviews. I was #11. I met with with the prosecutor, the victim's advocate and a preacher who happened to be an associate of the prosecutor during my first interview. I got called back for my 2nd interview and I met with just the prosecutor. She said that it had been narrowed down to me and another woman. The other woman was the daughter of an influential banker here in town and the wife of a prominent law enforcement officer. I was just the girl from down on the 1st floor and not even from this area. The prosector told me that the other woman had told her that she had been trying to have a child with her husband for a while and she really wanted to be a mother but at this point in her life, she would put this job before starting a family. Then the prosecutor asked me how I would regard this job in relations to my family. I told the prosecutor that I was a divorced mother of 2 and that I would come to work and give my all at work but my job would not take precedence over my children. The prosecutor moved on to her next question. I got the call the next night from the prosecutor that she had chosen me for the job. I was the underdog but I came out on top. I think God placed me in the position that I'm in so that I could help others but also help myself. My job is therapeutic. I deal with a lot of domestic violence and other crimes. The things that I see at work help me make wiser choices in my personal life. I had not always made good choices when it came to men in my past. This job has kept me from reuniting with my ex, a felon and a possessive control freak.
What I like best about my job is that I get a chance to help others when they are facing a difficult time in their life.
What I like least about my job is that I have to write a grant in order to keep in funded.

Married my husband and had a child... love it!
The only thing I hate is not being able to work publicly anymore due to an accident so being a wife and mother is all I have in this life and I have to love what I'm doing or else I couldn't be good at it and they tell me all the time that I am "the best".

I stopped into the office to talk to a guy about getting a mortgage. I didn't qualify for enough, so I thanked after 10 minutes of talking and I left. My parents were also there trying to refinance their house and got to talking about me. The guy must have been impressed with me, because he invited me back to chat with him about doing what he did. I started 3 weeks later. God has always opened doors like that for me. And believe me, it was definitely God's work. I was on vacation that week and hadn't shaved in quite some time when I showed up.
I like my job, I just get kinda tired of dealing with people all the time.

i got this job because a good friend of mine gave me a good recommendation to my boss.
what i like about my job is that my boss is nice, and that friend i was talking about happens to be my crush and i see him a lot. hehe... also i have an income, i can pay for my tuition and expenses and i can help my mom financially.
what i don't like about the job is that i deal with a lot of problems (customer's). i am the middle man between customers, the corporates and the master dealer -- so i get yelled a lot by customers, the master dealer (well, he doesn't yell at me but he gives me mean looks), and corporates are making everything harder for me... they lower the commission and products are very expensive, therefore it is very tough to give customers a good deal. also i deal with other incosiderate arses on the side -- guys hitting on me (maintenance workers -- eew!), co-workers (from other businesses) over-reacting etc. so that makes it tougher. it would be easier if everything was just stuff that you can put a price on and sell it. but in this kind of business, you have to balance out the commissions (which is decreasing steadily), prices of the products and your own profit. one of the things that suck in my job is that i am always late when it comes to salary. i am 2 weeks late and i have 1 week's worth of backpay. but since my boss is nice, i don't like bothering him about it because i know he is very busy (other businesses) and he has a lot of problems. so i ask nicely when the time is right. it's just that i have a lot of things to pay for.

I'm a nurse who just decided to stay-at-home with my new baby. So my new job is Mommy!! I love every second of it. Yes, it does get a liitle boring now and then -- but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world -- even the $45,000 i made last year.
