I have Windows 98 and have installed Ulead Photo Express 5 SE and Ulead Photo Explorer 8. Please assume I know nothing about this process, because that's the truth of it. Thanks if you can help.

You should be able to connect your camera directly to your computer using a USB cable - normally a rectangular connector at one end which goes into your computer and a square or squarish end that goes into your camera (chances are such a lead came with your camera).

With your camera connected it will work in much the same way as a hard-drive in that you can copy, delete, save, move files etc. When you open Windows Explorer you should see your camera listed amongst the list of drives e.g. 3½ Floppy (A:), Local Disk (C:), Kodak Digital Camera (or whatever it's called).

Just access the files as you would normally. You can then drag and drop the files from your camera onto your hard drive.

If you want to use Photo Express or Photo Explorer then run the program as normal, click on Get, click on Camera, select your camera from the list of data sources (top right) then click Acquire (bottom right) - this will show all the pictures in your camera. Alternatively you can use Ulead to open the photos directly from your camera in the same way you would if it were an image on your hard drive.

Personally I'd copy all the images to the hard-drive, it will work quicker and you don't need to have your camera connected.

Windows 98 you say? Well I think the 98 version could be incompatible to some later version softwares, May not work as easy. I thought the Ulead program photo express works with Windows 2000 and XP, not Win 98. Just a thought.

Load your Camera's software. Plug the camera in to your fire wire or USB port. Turn the camera on it will open the software automatically. Follow the instructions on the screen. Very simple. Good luck.

if your comp is fairly new, there should be a slot to insert your memory card... i know mine does and thats how I copy pics onto my comp... otherwise i think you have to have your pics put onto a picture cd and then you can transfer them to your comp... hope this helps
