i am terrified of clowns and i have no way to explain it! lol..i was never tormented by a clown, or anything like that i just think they are the most scariest things ever, they wear weird clothes and act stupid and i know its for fun but they just seem so crazy....and their faces with all that make up...oh dear lord....and there have been scary movies made where clowns attack and kill people, i also have a phobia of garden gnomes, same story as clowns they are just scary looking and probably come alive at night..creepy lol

i'm 18, and i hate them
i guess it might stem from seeing some creepy clown movies when i was a kid or something. i just don't understand what kind of weirdo would dress up like that and act like a freak for a living. and being around kids all the time? And with the makeup it's hard to see what the person looks like. You cant tell what the person is like (he/she could be a rapist or a murderer or a pedofile) and some people trust their kids with clowns. Most clowns just act creepy, so I stear clear of them.

the stereotype is an old man sitting in a messy trailer, with a cigar, putting on his clown make-up for 13 millionth time, he's got playboy pin-ups on the wall, and a collection of beer cans. the guys is emotionally shattered, but it's a living. It almost seems like life is fun for a few minutes if a few kids laugh at him when he's performing-
The sad "vibe" is so hideously strong however, that most folks get a confused, mixed impression and are suspect of the clowns real intentions- and it's depressing.
he gets to hide his identity from the audience, he probably is a really twisted up person.
of course in real life...hahahah they come to your kids birthday party in a minivan, and charge $225.00
LOL

personally....or so goes the story as told by my mum to me, when i was a baby my family all went to see some sort of event....and for the kids, clowns were there, and i guess i was crying, and this clown lady wouldnt leave me alone cause she thought she could stop me from crying, but she scared the **** outta me.......it wasn't until i was 11 that i could be within 500 ft of a clown, and even now, they still creep me out.
my papa used to have pictures of those hobo clown guys.....the clowns with the makeup on and the cigars and all that. i don't know if maybe they creeped me out? he had TONS of clowns, i actually faced my fears and kept some just cause I missed my papa and wanted those to remember him

Never had a bad experiance with clowns, yet they do tend to frighten me a little. Clowns, dolls, and elmo all tend to wig me out to some extent, lmao. Maybe being scared of clowns comes from that nasty killer John Wayne Gacy?

Clowns are creepy. Examples: Movie; Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Movie; Stephen King's "IT". Serial killer; John Wayne Gacy.
No wonder clowns have a bad rep.

I'm 25 and I haaaate clowns, can't stand looking at them. I never had a bad experience, so I can't really explain it. They just creep me out real bad.
I'm kind of the same way with spiders. When I was a kid I can remember playing with spiders in my back yard. I never got bit or anything that I can remember, but now they are my biggest fear.

there was this clown guy in the 70's called john wayne gacy,he pretended to be a gr8guy.used 2 go 2 hospitals 2 cheer up sick kids, the pres. and first lady even gave him an award! ooops!then one of his victims escaped...all the while he was impressing people with how nice he was,he had killed like 30 people and buried them in his basement and all over his property.if u grew up then,or if u saw a show about him,or read about him, definately enough to creep u out for life.

It seems like a lot of people in my age group are afraid of clowns. I think it might have something to do with seeing the movie Poltergeist when they were little.

I heard it has to do with a scary book someone wrote about them. Then again, the typical clown can be be a creepy person.
