No. 20/20 on ABC did a story on this a while back. Turns out that the full moon doesn't affect births - apparently people just happen to notice it when there is a full moon and think that the moon caused them to go into labor. 20/20 looked at all of the birthdates and whether or not there was a full moon on that day, and each day averaged the same number of births.

Womens cycles tend to follow the earth's energy. I don't know why, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the same reasons why farmers plant their seeds at a certain time of the month & year. If a baby is born around or at a full moon, then the energy will be more relaxed after the birth & Mother & Child can get some much needed rest. It is a well known fact that plants grow AS the moon grows (gets fuller) & when the moon is getting smaller plants tend to grow at a slower rate! I have noticed that IF the Mother was born on a full moon, her baby will not be!

This is a HUGE urban myth. It is also a "self-fulfilling prohpecy" Emergency rooms are also supposedly more busy during full moons, too. That is just because they seem to be by staff who believe in advance that they will be. Statistics prove there is no correlation between a full moon and births or accidents.
According to Doctor Marjorie Greenfield of the Dr. Spock Institute:
When labor is allowed to start spontaneously, we don't know of any factor that influences its timing. While some believe that more babies are born on a full moon, or when the barometric pressure is low and the weather is bad, these theories are unproven.

No, I've worked at a hospital for years. More babies are born during a new moon, not a full one. Actually few babies are born then. The reason they staff more in an ER during a full moon, is because it does tend to produce more erratic behavior in people...gun shot wounds, drunk driving accidents, rape, assault...

My husband's grandmother told me to count on a calander 9 full moons after I became pregnant and 24 hours after the ninth one will be the day I deliver.....Well, last night was my 9th full moon since becoming pregnant so I guess I'll find out today if that old wives tale is true and I'll let you know!

The "experts" claim there is no statistical proof. Ask any labor and delivery nurse and they will say absolutely yes.
