Use cool cloths on sunburned areas.
Take frequent cool showers or baths.
Apply soothing lotions that contain aloe vera to sunburned areas. Topical steroids (such as 1% hydrocortisone cream) may also help with sunburn pain and swelling.
A sunburn can cause a mild fever and a headache. Lie down in a cool, quiet room to relieve the headache. A headache may be caused by dehydration, so drinking fluids may help. For more information, see the topic Dehydration.
There is little you can do to stop skin from peeling after a sunburn—it is part of the healing process. Lotion may help relieve the itching.
Other home treatment measures, such as chamomile, may help relieve your sunburn symptoms.
(I personally love the Aloe Vera Gel...lots of it)

First of all, you need to take some Ibuprofin (if you're not allergic to it). It will help reduce the swelling and pain.
Second, take a very cool to cold bath--this will help reduce the damage that the burn did to your skin. It will also help with the swelling, pain, and redness. If you can't take a bath, get some ice and rub it on the burned areas.
Third, drink plenty of clear fluids and make sure you're keeping hydrated.
If you have blisters, do NOT pop them. This will not only hurt, but it can leave bad scars. Blisters mean you have at least second degree burns. Not good!
If you have a lot of blisters, especially if you have a fever or the blisters have pus in them, you need to immediately go to the doctor. You probably have sun poisoning. This is very dangerous and can make you very sick.
If your skin is peeling, do not "help" it along...don't peel your skin. That also can cause very bad scarring (I have a big scar on my nose from peeling it as a kid when I had a sunburn--I'm now 35 and the scar is still there!).

Ok now this is my home remedy it works for the pain and itching, get alkaseltzer tablets, fill a bowl with water, then put in 2-4 tablets (i use 4), let them completely dissolve. Then soak a washcloth with the dissolved mixture, squeeze out excess water back into the bowl. Apply like a cold compress to your skin. When the towel gets warm, re-soak it in the mixture left in the bowl. Repeat untill the bowl is empty.
What this does it applys the asprin directly to the skin, and it stops the skins pain directly. It works WONDERS!

Aloe works the best for sunburned skin. I've also used Noxzema to help cool the skin after being sunburned. Don't peel the skin. Let it fall off naturally. Otherwise you can cause yourself more pain in peeling skin that's not ready to come off yet.

I've always used Noxema. The cooling ingredients in it feel great. If you got burned that badly, I think your coach would let you be ball getter (forgot the term). Rest and lots of water is the best bet. Aloe vera helps at night when you're sleeping and your body uses that time to repair itself.

Noxzema and Aloe Vera are the best! If it is itchy, use chamomile.. I know it's used for poison, but it helps the itchiness from the burn.

go to the emergency room or see your physician immediately! you have a very serious burn and need to have it treated medically. there is nothing that will make it less painful for volley ball practice, and until you see a doctor about it i highly recommend that you do not participate in any sports.

try aloe, it always helps me. If you have vitamim E, break open a capsule and rub it on your skin.
I'm pretty sure you don't have this, but if you can buy it anywhere get some emu oil, it helps with EVERYTHING.
hope you feel better
