There might be many things starting up at the same time. You can choose what to start when Windows start by doing the following:
> Click Start
> Click on Run...
> Type in "msconfig"
> A window will open, and on the top tabs, click on the "Startup" tab
> Uncheck all boxes execpt those that are for security reasons: [ex: virus scanning, spyware protection...etc...]
> Click OK and Restart
Good luck and I hope it works :)

add more ram that's the best way to help a computer run faster. Also, if you want it to startup faster it helps to reduce the number of programs that startup with your computer. One way to do this is to click on start then run type msconfig then when the box comes up click on the startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want to startup with your computer. Just be careful not to click on anything if you don't know what program it is for.

By going to the program manager (which show all the programs that startup and run when you turn on your computer) and getting rid of all the junk you really dont need, which is probley most of it. Lot of stuff start up and run constantly, which slow down your computer, when you dont need it to until you need it. Like messegers. Another thing you can do is get a spamware because everytime you get on the internet alot of sites will put spyware on your computer which will slow it down.

Slow startup is from having a lot of startup programs and backround applications.
A program that has helped me a lot is winpatrol, with it, you can control the startup and all the applications in the backround.

Windows has a lot of problems with the Paging System (alocating resources and such) and after installing and uninstalling a lot of programs it may become unstable. The registry may have a lot of enteries too. If you can, you could reinstall Windows and that will fix your problems (you will have to reinstall all of your programs too, unfortunatlly). Otherwise you can try defragmanting your drive or using Norton System Works to optimise your system.
In the future to avoid such problems, you may want to install your windows fresh, install all of your programs and then make a image of the drive using Norton Ghost. Next time you need to install windows, you can simply restore the image you made.

You should disable all the start up programs. Click "Start", then click on "Run". Then type "msconfig" and click "startup", and click "Disable All" and restart the computer and see if this helps.
