How can I make Gun Shot Effects?

How do I make the flash when someone shoots a gun? I use Adobe Premiere and I also have Adobe Aftereffects

i wish i could remember mysef BUT if you haven't already seen any robert rodriguez movies, go rent some now. he has clips called "10 minutes film school", and gives you all kinds of low-budget secrets. the most informative ones are on "el mariachi" and "desperado". he does talk about gun shots.

Get a strobe light turn it on at the exact second u fire
Don't know if it will work but it was the best I could come up with
