this is my first child with my boyfriend. He has a son with his ex wife and at birth he weighed almost 10 pounds! She didnt have diabetes with him or anything that would of contributed to such a heavy infant. My b/f at birth was also a 9 pounder. My question is to you does this indicate I will have a big baby as well if I go full term? I have no health problems and my 2 other children were between 7-8 pounds. What do you think?

It's possible but there really is no accurate way to predict size.

I dont think the parents weight at birth has anything to do with your infants weight. I say this because I am living proof! I was an 11-pounder (lol, I know, big as hell), my hubby was a 10-pounder, and all of his siblings were as well. Our daughter was 7.4 at birth. I think it has alot to do with mommy's diet while pregnant, as well as how past due she is. The baby puts on most of their weight at the end.

i weighed 7 lbs when i was born and my ex weighed 7 lbs when he was born....and i weighed 110lbs before i got pregnant....our baby weighed 8lbs 6oz and was 2 weeks early. I read once that eating from the bread cereal and pasta group would increase the weight of the baby....i craved cereal the whole time i was pregnant and i also ate alot of pasta bc it was quick and easy. so i think that couldve been a reason why my son was the biggest baby born in both our familys....and if your other kids were 7-8 lbs i would prolly expect this one to be around the same bc your eating habits count

You may or may not have a big baby my daughter's dad was a 9 pounder and our daughter was only 5' 15 so it can go either way.

My husband was 7lbs at birth and I was under 5lbs at birth and all my kids are under 6lbs. My husband swears I will have a big baby this time around but I know I won't because I deliver early and carry small like my mom did with me.

even if you have a big baby your bady can handle it. i was 8lb 4oz at birth and my bf was 8lb 3oz but he was born a month early. our son was 8lb 15oz and our daughter was 9lb 3oz and 8 days late and i was fine. i think the parent's birth weight has a little to do with it but not all. you may have an 8-9lb baby but you won't know the difference. i have a friend who had 5lb babies and said she tore even with her 2.

There is no real answer to that, my sister in laws first child was 8lbs 7oz and her second was only 6lbs 4oz. I asked my doctor if there was any way to tell how big my baby is going to be and he said "SURE, when she gets here, we'll weigh her!!!"

I think you are going to have a 9lb baby. Don't worry it doesn't hurt any worse than having an 8lb baby.

Possibly, the doctor should be able to tell you by sono if it looks like it is going to be a big one..........
