I have no problems with it on its own. It's impossible to deny, however, that it is an industry that benefits directly from people's low self-esteem. I think the idea of marketing cosmetic surgery is deeply immoral; making people feel $hit about themselves in order to "fix" them and make oneself a bit of money is not my idea of good karma...

I don't have a problem with plastic surgery whether it's reconstructive or simply for cosmetic reasons. I haven't had any myself but if having plastic surgery makes someone feel better about their appearance then I don't see the problem. I do think some people go overboard sometimes having just about everything nipped, tucked, lifted, and enhanced, but to each their own.

i don't like plastic surgery at all. there is too great of a chance that something could go wrong. the only way i would get plastic surgery is if i was in a bad accident and i needed plastic surgery to look normal again

I think that it's fine in moderation. It's when people start abusing plastic surgery and end up looking plastic that's a problem. I also think that breast implants are bad. I've known too many people that have suffered because of them. No beauty enhancement should ever jeopardize your life.

I've nothin' against it but I'm not pro-plastic surgery either. If you can afford it & able to deal with the ramifications that come post surgery i.e. possible scarring, pain, recovery process, etc; then go for it.
But when it gets to be too extreme... in that it "robs" you away of your inner spirit then there's a bigger problem not revolving around surgery anymore & that to me is unacceptable.
I believe that every single curve, line, wrinkle are yours & yours alone. It's called aging. To "erase" that would be to wipe out your life's milestones.

I'm happy with myself, so I don't need it. Maybe when I get older, I'll look into Botox and stuff...there's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best. Like I said, any other plastic surgery is not for me, but I certainly don't judge other people if that's what they want to do. Unless they go really overboard with ridiculous fake HHH sized breasts or a face like Michael Jackson's...then yeah, I'll laugh and call them freaks.

well.. most of the time, people who opt for plastic surgery don't really have anything wrong with them. it's psychological, eventhough they look beautiful, when they look in the mirror, they see somebody ugly. same case in anorexia, an anorexic sees a fat person, eventhough she is severely underweight. let's face it, do you honestly think plastic surgeons will tell these women that there is nothing wrong with them? of course they wouldn't.

reconstructive surgery is acceptable, plastic surgery is just plain vanity. yes they can afford it, but it is destroying their mental health. i've seen on tv shows a woman who spent hundreds of dollars on plastic surgery, she literally looks like a barbie doll and it's unsightly.

I don't know what the big deal is about doing surgery on a piece of plastic.

I think it's all acceptable as long as you don't go too far with it. Don't people want to recognise themselves? Everybody's got something they don't like about them, mostly on their face - big nose, bags around the eyes, small lips, double-chin, loose skin...the list goes on. I think if there's something somebody really doesn't like about themselves and they want to make it look better there's nothing wrong with that. it's usually a matter of mental health - people are really influenced by things like this. They are unhappy with the way they look and they just want to feel better about themselves. As for breast reductions and implants I see nothing wrong with that in extreme situations. I don't think I could ever get implants but I wouldn't mind a surgery or two for my face. The things we do for beauty...

Plastic surgery helps boost confidence...except when you don't have a good surgeon...

I had to have plastic surgery for health reasons...so it was all paid for, thank goodness...but not only did it help me but boosted my confidence drastically!!
The best thing I have ever done!
