Hi :

here how to find your answer:

1) set the problem up like so:

_____________
47/ 560

insret a decimal point and a lot of zero like so:

__________________
47/ 560.00000000000000

Okay let start dividing { how many time will 47 go into 47? :

answer 1 so:

_1______________
47/ 560.000000000000 put a 47 under the 56
47 and Subtract it
-------
90 get the result and being a
zero down

How many time will 47 go into 90 well 2 * 47 = 94 too high so 1 will be used again and put a Decimal point in after it, so

_11._________________
47/560.00000000000
- 47
-----------
90
-47
---------
43

Now bring down a Zero and how many times will 47 go in to 430?

about 9 times so :

_11.9____________
47/ 560.000000000
-47
________
90
-47
------------
430
- 423
-------------
7

You get the idea;

if you went all the way to the end of the zero in the dividing number column your answer will be : 11.914893617021

prove 11.914893617021* 47 = 560

11.914893617021
X 47
-------------------------------

83.404255319147
476.59574468084
_________________
559.999999998 close enought to 560 { this due to the fact the decimal never round out

So we prove it

You can do this in your head...47 goes into 56 one time...that leaves 9 add the next number which is 0 and you have 90...2 is too big so you go with 1 again...that leaves 43...so you place your decimal point and add another 0...that gives you 430...47 times 9 is 423 so you have 7 left...add a 0...goes 1 time into that leaving 23...and so on! Depending on how many places you need to take it you would continue.
